FAQ

  • What is General Mark’s Hide Revive?

A natural, all-purpose leather restoration balm that nourishes, protects, and extends the life of smooth leather goods.

  • What kinds of leather can I use it on?

Safe for most smooth, finished leathers—shoes, jackets, bags, furniture, and car interiors. Not for suede, nubuck, or vegan leather.

  • Will it darken my leather?

In most cases, no. Natural oils may slightly deepen very light or untreated leathers initially; color typically settles as it absorbs. Always patch test first.

  • Can I use it on colored leather?

Yes. It’s safe for all colors. For sensitive finishes, test on a hidden area first.

  • How often should I apply it?

Daily-use items every 1–2 months; furniture and jackets every few months. Adjust based on dryness and wear.

  • How much product should I use?

A little goes a long way. Apply a thin, even layer with fingertips or a soft cloth, then buff.

  • Do I need to buff or wipe after applying?

Yes. Let absorb ~5 minutes, then lightly buff with a clean, dry cloth for a smooth, satin finish.

  • Can I use it on furniture and car seats?

Absolutely—designed for everything from small goods to sofas and automotive leather.

  • What’s in it?

An all-natural blend of plant oils, lanolin, and beeswax—no silicone, petroleum, or synthetic fragrances.

  • Is it all-natural and safe?

Yes. Naturally derived ingredients and skin-contact–safe when used as directed on leather goods.

  • Does it have a scent?

A light, natural beeswax aroma that fades quickly. No added fragrance.

  • Is it safe for people with allergies or sensitive skin?

Most users find it gentle, but if you’re sensitive to beeswax or lanolin, use gloves and patch test first.

  • How long does a tin last?

Varies by use; a 2 oz tin typically lasts several months of regular conditioning.

  • What’s the shelf life?

Up to 2 years when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

  • What if the balm hardens or softens over time?

Temperature affects texture. If hardened, gently warm the tin before use; if softened, store in a cooler spot.

  • Is the packaging recyclable?

Yes. The metal tin is fully recyclable and great for reuse once empty.

  • How soon will I see results?

Usually immediately—dull leather regains richness and suppleness after the first application.

  • Can it restore cracked or very dry leather?

It can significantly improve flexibility and appearance, though deep cracks may not fully disappear.

  • Does it make leather waterproof?

It adds some water resistance thanks to beeswax, but it isn’t a dedicated waterproofing treatment.

  • Who makes Hide Revive?

Handcrafted in small batches by Afterlife Trading Co. in Queens, NY—tools for things built to last.
